METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES FOR LAND USE AND LAND COVER DYNAMICS STUDIES: A LOOK AT THE MOZAMBICAN REALITY

This review aims to discuss the framework of the study of land use and land cover dynamics into the widely disseminated methodological approaches, with a look at the Mozambican reality, which differs from others with respect to cultural practices, political, financial and Know how issues around the land use planning. This review discusses about which paths to follow for an effective survey of land use and land cover based on the known methodological approaches in the scientific and academicals environment. Based on the theoretical survey on methodological approaches and issues inherent to the dynamics of land use and land cover, description of the activities involved in the land use and land cover survey, it was possible to establish relationships among them that allow framing each activity to the methodological approach. The research allowed to visualize different methodological possibilities for conducting research on the dynamics of land use and land cover in Mozambique.
