This work is the result of research that links the Geography curriculum, especially the contents of school climatology in high school textbooks, with its reference science. To this end, authors of didactic books representative of Brazilian School Geography between the 1960s and 2010 were selected, with the objective of carrying out a critical reading on the contents of climatology conveyed in their didactic works, as well as details of their speeches that refer their thoughts and their times. In this paper, we try to disseminate, specifically, the research method, known as the indiciary paradigm, introduced by the Italian historian Carlo Ginzburg, which is still little known in Brazilian Geography and can serve as research from documentary sources. We present some considerations about the common methods used in the sciences. Next, we talk about the indicative paradigm method and we exemplify with research examples of which method was employed.
