The stroke in the Humanities: 1964 and Social Studies
Abstract
In the 70’s, the formal education was one of the most efficient ways for social control and power’s ideology spread. The military government created a lot of subjects to encourage one determinate civism and to advertise the political system, among those, Social Studies. This text aims to analyse the characteristics of the military government model, the concept of education, the changes made in formal education, the imposition of the subject Social Studies and its tragic consequences for the Geography. A brief analysis of schoolbooks from elementary school is presented at the end. Key words: Social Studies – Geography – Formal Instruction – Schoolbook.Downloads
