Social and Environment Conflicts Derived from Oil Privatisation in Neuquen (Argentina).
Abstract
The government resolution of both to not regulate economic activities and to privatise all government companies were the basis to market rules and government structural reforms, that were produced in Argentina from 1989 and during 90´s. In another words, they were essential obligations that Argentine Government (elected in 1989) accepted and resolved to execute to please foreign government bonds holders, international financial organisations, multinational firms and principal local economic groups. In this context, this paper focuses environment and social effects over Neuquén province that resulted of YPF (Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales) privatisation. Then, Cutral Co-Plaza Huincul population tries, by reiterated ways, to resist both public and private strategic definitions that make it suffer a plainly structural destruction. By other hand, Rincón de los Sauces evidences environment, social and economic effects, too; which are produced by business companies avariciousness, in addition to oil international price changes. At last, the recent evolution of Neuquén exportations and the increasing unemployment rate, both evidence that “growth” and “development” are very different processes. Key words: oil privatisation, social conflicts, and exportation nail.Downloads
