Spatial and temporal change of the fractal dimension of the gallery forests in the high watershed of Passa Cinco river, Ipeúna - SP
Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical discussion about landscape ecology and fractal geometry. Basic topics of landscape ecology and fractal geometry are reviewed, and different ways of interpreting landscape ecology by using fractal geometry (D) as an index of environmental change are herein proposed. The results of spatial and temporal change of the riparian landscapes in the 1962 – 1995 period showed that D are not present variation. Although when evaluate the variation of fractal dimension correlated with geomorphological units presents significative variations. Key words: Fractal Dimension; Landscape Ecology and Gallery ForestsDownloads
