Abstract

Geography, despite its many distinct interpretations, is still viewed and practiced as a study of the surface. What would be the meaning and implications of this interpretation? A quick exam of Paul Vidal de La Blache’s point of view can be very helpful to the understanding of the many achievements experienced by Geography, and the many challenges this science is yet to face.
