Assessment in Mathematics in the Context of Indigenous Education

Abstract

An assessment in mathematics in a context of indigenous education that aims to respect the culture of those involved in the process, that values their local knowledge, can indicate paths for a broader reflection on such an assessment process. The implementation of a continuing education project with indigenous educators involving the joint effort of various partners in the state of Espírito Santo showed that it is possible to conduct an integrated assessment of the learning process, thus making it a pedagogical approach that contemplates re-orientations as well as continuous adjustments aimed at nurturing learning.
