“Fury and power on wheels”: gender and education issues in the irmão do Jorel tv series

The purpose of this article is to analyze how the TV series Irmão do Jorel – especially the 25th episode of the 1st season: “Fúria e Poder sobre Rodas” – helps to understand the social dynamics that involve young people and adults in the constitution of their images. The episode raises questions, such as the various manifestations of existing gender, in addition to confronting the issue of sexual identity as something that is under construction during the development of being. The diverse approaches to themes such as gender and identity, treated in an unusual way in an image product with wide access to the general public, helps to bring to light the social dynamics that involve young people and adults. The playful way of dealing with complex and delicate topics like this, brings new forms of access and approaches. The focus is on how social construction, related to gender issues, is approached in a subtle, representative and capable of causing reflections way on educational constitutive processes during childhood and youth that influence and involve the identity construction of individuals.
