The rural exodus as territorial occupation factor in the So José neighborhood of Passo Fundo/ RS

Abstract

Passo Fundo, one of the main cities of the north half of the Rio Grande do Sul State and main attractive pole, of services and of urban occupation in the Area of the Production, is located at the Medium Plateau Riograndense, to 293 km of Porto Alegre, capital gaucha. It observed an intense urbanization process in the last decades, to example of Brazil and of the great majority of the underdeveloped countries. This growth was based, largely, in the process of rural exodus starting from the agricultural modernization observed in the area. This case study refers to a neighborhood that had its growth provoked by these processes. Key-words: Passo Fundo, neighborhood, urbanization, growth, rural exodus.
