Chemical Security in Brazil: The Rotterdam and Stockholm Convention
Abstract
The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure For Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade (PIC), signed by Brazil in 1998, has in the transportation of toxic pesticides and dangerous chemicals substances traded internationally, its main element for discussion. The limitation of its use and/or the banning of certain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) representative of a group of chemical products that convey serious threat to the living beings and the environment, are the topic of the Stockholm Convention.The Brazilian policy in relation to chemical security is not enough yet.
