Abstract

The socioeconomic and environmental impacts are due to the growing and accelerated urban development process. One of the tools adopted by cities is environmental zoning for the recognition and delimitation of environmental units according to their physical characteristics and fragility. This work aims a bibliometric survey as a proposal to understand the applications of environmental zoning under the urban context of the last ten years. The methodological procedures were based on the advanced search tools of the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) indexing bases. After organizing the information, two types of analysis were performed, one quantitative and the other qualitative. The quantitative analysis was supported by spreadsheets developed, with tables and graphs as the final product. The qualitative analysis, on the other hand, was based on the manipulation of the VOSviewer software to elaborate the network maps using the keywords of the most frequent authors of the analyzed publications. The largest number of publications found was 1,361, which were returned by the WoS database. Brazil appeared in the fourth position on both platforms, despite this, when analyzing the articles returned by WoS, it was seen that the work with the highest number of citations is by Brazilian authors.
