Abstract

Urbanization in Moatize, Mozambique, in recent decades has brought about significant transformations in the environment. The use of satellite imagery, such as Sentinel-2A and Landsat 4-5 TM, reveals a decrease in vegetation density and health due to urban expansion and agricultural practices. Unmodified Vegetation areas have decreased, while Anthropogenic Actions have increased, indicating the direct influence of urbanization. These changes highlight the need for a balance between economic development and environmental conservation, promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural vegetation. Effective measures are essential to ensure an environmentally sustainable future in Moatize and similar regions.
