Abstract

This study examines a university Extension Project of implementation of recreational activities in five Houses Homes. Aims to discuss the circumstances leading to the harbor and the residence of children and adolescents in this type of institution, review the configuration of relations established within this area and identify the contribution which the experience of approaching public university with that reality brings the training of teachers of physical education. The analysis undertaken in this text are the result of a series of records made in a diary from the field and accumulated over a year, a period in which the activities were implemented in the Houses. Were also used questionnaires answered by the trainees on the performance of the Extension Project implemented at the end of each semester. The methodology followed the principles of a qualitative research approach. The study revealed the need for creating spaces that provide the pleasure in the Houses, like those provided by the Extension Project. Public managers and professionals who work in institutions need to understand that the moments of leisure, and to provide learning, can make the surroundings more harmonious and happy.
